Clara Oswald in for more adventures

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherDecember 29, 20143 Comments1 Min Read

Those who had a chance to watch the Doctor Who Christmas Day special learned Clara won’t be exiting the show as many expected.

jenna-louise_coleman_-_p_2099Jenna Coleman’s time on Doctor Who has been up and down the last year or so, with many fans asking Santa for the character to exit the series, while others have been asking for more.  As the end of this weekend’s episode showed, Coleman is sticking around for at least one more series.

“The arrival of the 12th Doctor has just kind of dropped this whole bombshell and allowed the dynamic to totally change, so I think just when Clara was feeling more comfortable in the relationship, it has suddenly thrown something new up.”

With Coleman returning in the next series, she becomes the longest companion of the “new” Doctor Who series.

Spoiler warning for those who’ve not seen the finale (but then again, if not… why the hell are you reading this article?)

Okay… but will the story shoot itself in the foot this time? The problem I have with the last season is that the finale kind of is impossible, even by Time Travel shenanigans and what not. I mean, how did any of the previous seasons’ stuff with the Soldier Dan’s descendants happen if he was to die naturally as he did in the finale? If his death was caused by time travel, then we could claim Time Traveler’s Immunity, but… it wasn’t. It was implied to be “just what happens”. So how the hell did they meet his descendant?

Kinda starting to agree with Matthew here in regards to Moffat’s writing. If she continues, I’m hoping to get some better writers and stories in the show.

I do like the 12th doctor, though. He’s cool.

Unless she’s pregnant before the season finale….

Moffat explained that it is most likely Orson Pink wasn’t a direct descendant of Danny, just a relation. After Danny’s death, Clara gave the Dan the Soldier Man toy to his family and the toy was passed on.

I can actually buy that theory. We have a picture of some relatives of ours from several generations back (I’m talking OLD, like before 1900 old). One of the men in the photo isn’t a direct member of my family line (it was the little girl in the picture that was my great-great-something-grandmother, the man being her uncle) yet he looks EXACTLY like my uncle.
