I admit it: I had a metaphorical blonde moment. Wait, that’s probably offensive… Apologies to my blonde friends, better to say I forgot. Either way, I almost spaced on today’s MS-QOTD. Thanks to multiple recording sessions (#KeepItCryptic), I ‘ve been getting up late and running behind most of the week. Fortunately, I keep my feathers numbered for just such an emergency, as I’m terrible at planning. Even my graduate thesis prospectus was a last minute affair, written over 48 hours with no sleep. Since we’re nearing the season(s) of giving and because I vamp really well, let us ponder today’s short-notice query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) may be behind the 8-ball but at least I’m consistent, asking: If you had to give away one of your favorite movies, books, comics or what-have-you as a last minute birthday gift RIGHT NOW, what would you give your hypothetical friend?

Depends on how close the “friend” is and what they would appreciate.
If the friend is someone that ever liked Power Rangers or Super Sentai, and if I really liked them, I’d give them one or more of my Ranger Keys. I have a few friends that have bought the Super Megaforce Ranger Keys of their favorite ranger, but the Japanese Ranger Keys are almost twice the size and some are more detailed, so it won’t be like they’d have easy to mix up duplicates.
If it was someone who wasn’t in to that, but still someone I like (as in not someone I’m getting a gift for out of obligation), I have numerous action figures of various franchises they may appreciate. Star Wars, superheroes, Transformers and so on. Even my older step-brother who doesn’t have a whimsical bone in his body has a few action figures around his computer desk (a few wrestlers, Spider-Man and Optimus Prime).
If it isn’t someone I’m close to or anything, they can have one of my foreign movie or anime DVD sets. If they prefer books, then I’ve got numerous novels and TPBs covering various genres. Had a pleasant surprise when I regifted a copy of “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” to someone who had never read it and claimed to hate sci-fi, so it could always happen again.
If you want to send me a DekaSwan, I’ll toss you my address. ;)
