Major Spoilers Poll of the Week: Crazy Comic-Con Edition

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJuly 22, 20146 Comments1 Min Read

This week, the San Diego Comic-Con will occupy our every waking moment. The hope is some big news will drop that will break the Internet (The Rock as Shazam or that Johnny Depp will be Doctor Strange). Though there will be a lot of big moments, there may be more disappointments than joyous rapture.

I said yes then I saw a picture on Facebook from Hot Toys of a Helicarrier and I was proved right.

And people in the comments talking about it being potentially in 1/6 scale. “If it’s in 1/6 scale, this could be somebody’s bed”.

By somebody I assume you mean a Blue Whale?

The internet has zero concept of scale. QED, the internet will break pretty much whatever you tell them.

      • Paul on July 22, 2014 12:54 pm

Just to expand slightly, “no concept of scale” in the contexts of both physical size and appropriate level of reaction to news!

    2. Ingrid on July 22, 2014 12:12 pm

Oh, almost certainly. I couldn’t possibly guess what it might be though. Who knows what will send the internet into a tizzy?

With so much going on just with DC and Marvel movies, I expect some big announcements out of that corner of the Con. Confirmation of the rumored DC release schedule would be a pretty big deal, especially if there is casting announced…such as The Rock as Captain Marvel in Shazam! Dunno of it would break the Internet in half, but it would certainly send ripples and be seen as an official gauntlet thrown Marvel’s way by the Distinguished Competition.

    4. Kirby on July 22, 2014 12:19 pm

I’ll say yes, though by this point it almost feels like everyone is trying to make that happen.

    5. Matt (@mbgoins) on July 22, 2014 12:25 pm

I think we’ve come to expect some news to simply rocket to the top of the Twitter trending charts. Age of Ultron and Superman vs. Batman were good examples last year. This year, we’re looking at more from a casting point of view – lots of things announced, lots of uncertainty as to “who is who” in the superhero movie realm.

It’s interesting – there’s an opening for DC to get in and actually make positive steps here with the upheaval of the Ant-Man movie fresh in most fans minds.
