Rosario Dawson joins the cast of Marvel’s Daredevil

Zach WoolfBy Zach WoolfJune 21, 20141 Comment3 Mins Read

Lot of news pertaining to Rosario Dawson, as Marvel has announced that the actress has joined the cast of the upcoming Nexflix show “Daredevil.”

In the announcement from Marvel, the company never comes out and says who Rosario Dawson will be portraying. We are given a few hints as to the capacity of her role though as the release says she “will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.” Along with that blurb, Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, said,

Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.

Now, I’m certainly not an expert in Daredevil lore, but when you start looking at what is being said I’m placing my money on Rosario playing Karen Page, the long-time love interest of Matt Murdock. I know almost nothing about Karen Page, but after doing a bit of reading the fact that she has worked in Matt’s law office and once sold out Matt’s secret identity to Wilson Fisk, who has already been cast in the show, I think it is possibly this is the unnamed part Rosario will be playing.

You can read Marvel’s full press release down below and don’t forget to give your thoughts on who you think Rosario Dawson will be playing in “Daredevil.”

    Press Release:

Marvel and Netflix are proud to announce that acclaimed actress Rosario Dawson has joined “Marvel’s Daredevil,” an all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015.

Known for her powerful work in “Cesar Chavez,” “Kids” and the upcoming “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,” Rosario Dawson will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.

Dawson joins Charlie Cox (previously announced as Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (previously announced as Wilson Fisk) in the critically-lauded cast of “Marvel’s Daredevil.”

“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”

“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Marvel’s first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”, “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer”, “Angel”) and Drew Goddard (“Cabin in the Woods,” “Lost,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, in addition to writing the first two episodes of “Marvel’s Daredevil”), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Smallville,” “Heroes”).

“Marvel’s Daredevil” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

She gives an Echo vibe to me, but maybe it could be Elektra.

I will be surprised if it is Karen, though. Karen is too much of a stereotypical blonde girl to me.

Then again, Jennifer Garner was chosen for Elektra once (and blonde no less), so who knows…
