Zack Snyder to direct Justice League movie

    Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherApril 27, 2014Updated:April 27, 20143 Comments1 Min Read

Breaking news out of Hollywood this evening – Zack Snyder will direct the Justice League movie.

Snyder is currently directing the Man of Steel sequel (known far and wide as Batman vs. Superman), and last week we learned that Cyborg has joined the cast of the film, so this announcement doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

What is telling is that Warner Bros. must like what Snyder is doing to go ahead and sign him for Justice League this far in advance.  My nose is twitching, which means something is afoot, and that something (to me) is Batman vs. Superman part one of a three part trilogy of films ala Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

The Batman vs. Superman movie is set for a May 06, 2016 release date, and if a trilogy of films happens, expect to see Justice League arrive in 2017, and Justice League: Detroit arriving in 2018.

So, it looks like Warner finally caught the momentum with their superhero films. Upcoming Man of Steel sequel seems to be incredibly important film to success of “movie DC universe”, since it stars two the biggest guns and pretty much sets the tone of whole setting (they just cannot do Nolanverse Batman in JLA, right?). I really hope they go for at least a little bit more light and adventurous feel instead of too gritty and realistic approach which we saw in Batman and to some degree in Man of Steel too.
Oh, also: please DO NOT do cliched Batman vs Superman fight imitating TDKR just to show how “awesome” Batman is. (I know, vain hope.)

More Watchmen and less Man of Steel.
I think taht with the right team of heros Zack Snyder could make a kick ass Justice League. I loved all his movies up til Man of Steel.

Other than his grey-scale obsession Man Of Steel was a fine piece of direction from Snyder, the true hurdle for the potential film DCU will be stories and script. Affleck had his Argo-guy work on the Man Of Steel 2 script so I’m warming to the idea of these two next films.. Warming, but still not “excited”.
