Mike Kunkel Covers “Scratch9: Cat of Nine Worlds”

    Press Release

Hermes Press is pleased to announce that Eisner-winning artist Mike Kunkel is the second cover artist on the all-new series “Scratch9: Cat of Nine Worlds”. Kunkel, known for his beloved comic “Herobear & The Kid” has provided a beautiful image of Scratch and his new villain Strick for the issue, which ships in July!

The new series leads directly out of the Free Comic Book Day event. Each issue is written by series creator Rob M. Worley and illustrated by Joshua Buchanan (“Scratch9: Cat Tails”).

“Mike is a hugely inspiring figure in the realm of all-ages comics. His Herobear books are so much fun and so heartfelt at the same time,” said Worley. “It’s great to have him back on Scratch9!”

Kunkel follows the first issue’s cover artist Kevin Eastman in a roster of all-star comic talent. Upcoming cover artists includes Marvel cat variant creator Jenny Parks, “Afterlife of Archie” artist Francesco Francavilla and “Bodie Troll” creator Jay Fosgitt, “American Vampire” artist Rafael Albuquerque, with more to be announced.

“Cat of Nine Worlds” pushes Scratch, a cat with the ability to summon any of his nine lives, further away from Penelope than ever before. Now he’s stranded in the ice age with his first life (the tiger Garogga) and no clue how to return to his best girl.

“Scratch9: Cat of Nine Worlds” #2 is available for pre-order from the May Diamond Previews catalog (ordering code #MAY14 1449). The book ships in July.

As with all Scratch9 products, a portion of the proceeds will go to the S.W.A.H. fund, benefitting animal shelters across the country.
