There have been rumors on the title of the final Hobbit movie, but today, Peter Jackson revealed the title, and it shouldn’t be a big surprise for anyone.
On his Facebook page, Jackson revealed the title of the movie will be The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies.
When we did the premiere trip late last year, I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title. We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate.
Of course it seemed very appropriate as that is what happens in the final act of the movie – everyone battles for the gold under the mountain (sometimes referred to as Smaug’s Gold – also, spoilers).
As the editing comes to a close, the hype machine for the final movie will increase, so expect to see official title images, and armies in all their garb in the very near future.
