Another weekend down, and another week with The LEGO Movie ruling the top spot. According to reports, the brick flick brought in $31.5 million over the weekend.
Though that number is down nearly 40% from the week prior, the film out earned Monument Men, and two new openers – Pompeii and 3 Days to Kill. Because of the huge success, it comes as no surprise that Warner Bros. has announced that May 26, 2017 is the date that has been set for the sequel movie.
The untitled sequel is the first movie to be be set for that date. Warner Bros. confirmed four days before the film opened on Feb. 7 that it had tapped screenwriters Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan to write the script for the sequel.
No word if any of the cast is returning, or if producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee will return as producers.

Sweet deal, one of the best family movies I’ve seen in a while. Hopefully most of the cast will be back.
