    FAN FILM: Grayson: Earth One

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJune 2, 20135 Comments1 Min Read

There are always a number of Indiegogo and Kickstarter campaigns that are going on – some have real value, and others are not worth the time. P3 Series is trying to create their own Grayson fan film and are looking for support to make it happen.

“Grayson: Earth One” season one is a non profit six episode season dedicated to exploring the origin story of the DC character known as Nightwing — but with a twist. The twist being that Richard Grayson has never had the good fortune of being adopted as a child by Bruce Wayne, thus never becoming the boy wonder. Instead, we have a Richard Grayson that had to fend for himself on the unforgiving streets of Gotham and, even worse, the streets of Bludhaven. A character that has to overcome years of dog eat dog mentality to become a selfless and kind individual. To ultimately fulfill his destiny and become a HERO.

Check out the first episode for yourself and see if it is something you want to get in on.

So my favorite character is being re-imagined… Admittedly, I did not want to like this; especially because the “punk” theme has been overdone in the Bat mythos. But this was really good! And by the end of the episode, I was hooked. The episode hints at enough character elements from the bat-verse that I want to see how the storyline will develop. Very well done!

Bleah, bleah and bleah. A non-mystical “Crow” using Dick Grayson’s name is all. The entire point if Dick Grayson is that he was adopted as a kid by a guy that, despite being heroic and noble was still a bit unhinged, became an independent hero and leader on his own. Nightwing is Batman without the emotional baggage (at lease before this Talon/Haley’s Circus stuff). Dick Grayson became Nightwing DESPITE of Bruce Wayne, not because of him. Now, Jason Todd in this type of setting? Absolutely. But there’s no need to change Nightwing’s basic premise as of all the DC characters, certainly the ones in “52” he is one of the most truly “heroic” in nature and I think that’s why he was so well accepted as being Batman with Damian’s “Robin”. Great production quality for a fan-film but I have not been a fan of “Earth-One” even if “Arrow” is considered “Earth-One”. Of course, in the back of my old “fan boy” head all of the DC movie franchises and TV stuff now exists on “Earth-One” anyway…:-)

Taz! Interesting perspective sir or ma’am (dont want to assume). Clearly you know and like comics. As you’ve display so awesomely above. Thats something we have in common. I think thats the reason I’m changing things. It’s because I own so many comics, it tough for anyone to tell a story that I cant get ahead of because I know the characters too well. Does that make sense? Sometimes I ramble.

Anyways. People hate robin. That why he gets killed so much and no one cares. Nightwing is liked by comic people mostly. He hasnt been represented in live action in the mainstream media. So I thought I’d take a crack at it. That being said… I’m a writer and director. There was no way I would just repeat what any writer has done already. (Most would respect that. Respect is why I wont blatantly put a done before nightwing on the screen in front of you.) I expect more from myself than that.

Also, I spend all my time with my best friend/ girl friend. If I didn’t adjustmy content I would miss out on reaching an audience that currently has no interest in the character as he is. So I changed it. I changed it in a good and original way to bring people who other wise wouldn’t give a damn about comics to our world.

Oh and although I respect the opinion, please try to remember that there are hardworking people on the other side of this film that wanted to do nothing but entertain you Mr/ Mrs. Taz. Free to you and working for no less. People trying to grow their skills as storytellers. Thats all. A person as smart as yourself is way to good to be that close minded. Besides… I’m sure you’ll see “The man of steel” this summer.

Guess what “Earth One” influence my friend. Best wishes.

I started off thinking I wouldn’t like this, but it was actually pretty entertaining.
