When I think back to the days when George Reeve was Superman, with his pudgy physique, and the best they could do for special effects was to have a “whoosh” sound effect and then have him loom up through a hole in the wall to simulate flying, I marvel at how far we’ve come in one lifetime. Or even thirty some years ago when they had Christopher Reeves flying from wires, and Zod walking on a piece of plywood a few inches under the water to simulate walking on water (and they couldn’t figure out a way to get rid of the ripples at the edge of the board which gave the trick away). Yes, yes, I am very looking forward to this.
