    akanerioAKANEIRO #1
    Writer: justin Aclin
    Artist: Vasilis Lolos
    Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: From the brilliant imagination of video game auteur American McGee comes a dazzling reenvisioning of Red Riding Hood set in the wondrous world of Japanese folklore! Justin Aclin and Vasilis Lolos take Kani a young woman torn between two cultures on an epic adventure battling devious yokai for the fate of her world!

RODRIGO: Got a chance to read this one the other day, definitely recommend it if you want to see a pretty good synthesis of eastern and western themes.

    Bounce_1_coverTHE BOUNCE #1
    Writer: Joe Casey
    Artist: David Messina
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: FIRST ISSUE SPECTACULAR! Written by JOE CASEY, with art by DAVID MESSINA. Meet the ultimate slacker superhero for the 21st Century! Jasper Jenkins is a super-head AND a super-hero! He’s relatable AND reliable and he’s embarking on the adventure of a lifetime! The sensational debut of the new feel-good hero of the decade! You can’t afford to miss it!

CHRIS: I have no clue what this book will be like but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read of Joe Casey’s. This looks like it will be fun and, knowing Casey, could be crazy as hell. Plus, a new feel-good hero? We could definitely use more of those.

    deepseaTHE DEEP SEA
    Writer: Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray
    Artist: Tony Akins
    Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: Paul Barry’s obsession with the ocean took a turn when his crew’s vessel was lost in a deep sea descent mission-with his crew inside. Fifty-five years later, with the recovery of the ship, Paul is about to discover the horrific mysteries of time and the abyss. From the pages of Dark Horse Presents.

RODRIGO: Great cover, interesting premise AND it’s a one shot. Definitely a grab.

    ghostbustersGHOSTBUSTERS #4
    Writer: Erik Burham
    Artist: Dan Schoening, Erik Burnham
    Publisher: IDW Publishing
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: They’re BACK! The original boys in gray have escaped captivity, but their captors-the demonic entities know as the Collectors-aren’t going to just let the Ghostbusters get away with a jailbreak! It’ll take all the wits at the disposal of both teams to keep Ray, Peter, Winston and Egon in one piece and on this dimensional plane!

ROB: Well, the new team didn’t even get their first big bust before the old guard made it back, but it doesn’t appear as though either team is ready for what’s going on. Let’s see how this plays out, shall we?

    GRTEAM_Cv1_mkiuy76yw0_pickoftheweekGREEN TEAM #1
    Writers: Art Baltazar, Franco
    Artists: Ig Guara
    Publisher: DC Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
    SOLICITATION: INVENTORS! EXPLORERS! ADVENTURERS!

Do you need money to finance an important project? Then you should set up a meeting with THE GREEN TEAM!

    Nature of world-changing idea:

Does your project have the potential to: Fracture space-time? Replace the combustion engine? Attract extraterrestrial attention? Prove/disprove existence of deities? Piss off The Justice League? Render the human body obsolete?

If any of the above are checked, please fill out liability release form GT2013-05. Send any 82 drawings, plans, models, or photos with request.

RODRIGO: Awesome, it’s hard for me to resist an old school, pulpy super-science book. This looks like just that, wrapped up in superhero bows.

STEPHEN: I’m willing to give this one a chance, if for nothing else than it is supposed to bring some balance with The Movement.

    jimJOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #652
    Writer: Kathryn Immonen
    Artist: Valerio Schiti
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
    SOLICITATION: HE’S BACK, BABY!
    BETA RAY BILL RETURNS!
    • After her most recent (mis?)adventures, Sif’s working on getting her, let’s just call them feelings…under control.
    • However, when a certain hammer-wielding, space-faring ex shows up…all bets are off!

GEORGE: Many titles came out of Marvel Now! with more hype, but Kathryn Immonen’s take on Sif in Journey Into Mystery is one of the best. It’s great writing paired with great art and now we get Beta Ray Bill to boot. This seems like it might be a good jumping on point, so hop on if you’re a fan of hammer-wielding, horse-faced aliens (and I know you are).

    nowhereNOWHERE MEN #5
    Writer: Eric Stephenson
    Artist: Nate Bellegarde
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
    SOLICITATION: Dead to the world.

GEORGE: Nowhere Men has been getting better with every issue, delivering a megadose of science fictional weirdness. It’s something like a rockumentrary mixed with Fringe, and some truly wonderful artwork courtesy of Nate Bellegarde. I do recommend picking up the back issues – the storytelling is pretty dense, but worth it.

    revivalREVIVAL #10
    Writer: Tim Seeley
    Artist: Mike Norton
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: Ibrahaim’s first door-to-door inspection goes badly when he’s sent to the Holt farm. The Check brothers have Cooper hostage, and unfortunately for them, it’s Em Cypress to the rescue.

KEVIN: A fun, new twist on an old genre, Revival is a mystery-filled zombie comic unlike any other. I love the interweaving stories and multidimensional characters. This series will keep you guessing until the very end.

    spidermanSUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #10
    Writer: Dan Slott
    Artist: Giuseppe Camuncoli
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: A perfect jumping on point as The Green Goblin returns…and Spider-Man is nowhere to be found!

ROB: Now the story truly changes. With Parker’s memories gone, will Octavius still be the hero he promised he would be, or are we going to see an even sharper turn in his actions? With the Goblin returning nothing is outside the realm of possibilities.

tmntTMNT VILLAIN MICROSERIES #2 BAXTER STOCKMAN
    Writer: Erik Burnham
    Artist: Andy Kuhn
    Publisher: IDW Publishing
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Baxter Stockman is busy working for Krang on the Technodrome… or so it appears. Little does Krang know that Baxter has secretly been working on his own project that is both mutant AND machine! But when creation turns on creator, Baxter’s trademark smugness might be in short supply! Will Baxter come up with a plan B in time to save himself… and the world?

ROB: I really want to know more about how Stockman is handling the mess he’s managed to get himself into. Fortunately, this looks like part of what we’ll be doing here, so that’s good.

Transformers RID_17_coverTRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE #17
    Writer: John Barber
    Artist: Livio Ramondelli
    Publisher: IDW Publishing
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: SHOCKWAVES! The fate of Cybertron is sealed-but what is the DECEPTICON scientist called SHOCKWAVE planning? After the stunning revelations in MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE, learn the origin of the one-eyed, gun-handed master of machinations… and the countdown begins for the biggest TRANSFORMERS event in comic book history.

CHRIS: I’m a huge Transformers fan and Shockwave is my favorite character so there is no way I’m not reading this issue. The Transformers titles have been killing it and they keep getting better. I can’t wait to review this one. I just hope I can remain unbiased!

    youngavengersYOUNG AVENGERS #5
    Writer: Kieron Gillen
    Artist: Jamie McKelvie
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: • The book where when a character says “I did it half an hour ago” normally means doing “it” half an hour ago reaches its first epic conclusion.
    • Why Did Loki Do It? No one kno… okay, we’ll tell you…Well, part of it.
    • Miss America probably punches someone. She usually does.

GEORGE: Gillen and McKelvie are doing some serious innovation with superhero comics on this title. Straight up, this is something you should be reading.

KEVIN: I am always skeptical when a new creative team takes over a comic series. However, Young Avengers is different. The new lineup is fantastic, a mix of new characters and old favorites from the original Young Avengers series. The art is incredible and the story gets better and better with every issue.
