MOVIES: Set Photos for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

    Rob RasmussenBy Rob RasmussenMay 17, 2013Updated:May 17, 20137 Comments1 Min Read

Michael Bay cast Megan Fox as April O’Neil in the upcoming Turtles reboot, much to the fans’ chagrin. And while we aren’t expecting much to come of this, the first set photo has been released, and honestly, she doesn’t look half bad, but you can take the jump and see for yourself.

That is a lot more subtle than I was expecting and she actually looks good in costume. While I’m still not sold on the whole thing, between this and the news that the alien origin has been revoked I am slightly optimistic about the next Turtles film.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and stars Megan Fox in the role of April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and Danny Woodburn as Master Splinter.

It’s a step up for Fox.
She was 3rd banana after CGI robots and Labeouf in the Transformer movies. Now she is 2nd banana after CGI turtles.

It may just be me (after seeing her in ‘This is 40’ and not recognizing her at first) but I think she gets better with age.

(Read: Now that she’s a little more classy and her costumes are a little more understated, she looks better, too.)

I didn’t get why people were so upset over the alien origin thing. If you read the new IDW series the “ooze” come from another dimension and is brought to earth by Krang. So essentially the Turtles are of alien origin. Now if they actually made them an alien race of turtles from turtle planet, then I would get the nerd rage.

It’s not just the alien bit, they were also adults and there was no Splinter.

And yeah they were from a humanoid turtle alien planet in Michael Bay’s “Adult Teenage Mutant Alien Explosions”

He backpedaled like mad and said “It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press.”

Were are supposed to believe he let his movie be shot down in flames by the fans long before it even started filming because he “never went out to correct myself in the press.”

        Right…

FYI in the original comic series the ooze is from the TRCI aliens.

I know that, but he wanted to make them out right aliens rather then mutated turtles. There is a big difference.

          I mean:
Vandal Savage became immortal because of a meteorite, would you say that since his powers come from the mutation that happened because of alien radiations that he’s an alien?

He wanted to change the core of the original content and rather then admit he caved to fan pressure or realized his mistake he claims he just didn’t tell anyone they got it wrong…

Michale Bay is a horrible director, he strings special effects together (some which he recycles from past movies) powders a bit of plot (with plenty of holes) and calls it a movie. He strayed so far form the original content in Transformers that I still don’t get why he even bothered calling it Transformers.

He’s the type of guy who tells real directors like Guillermo del Toro, that movies like Pacifc Rim are “Rip-Offs” of his Transformers franchise (if anything it’s a Gundam/Robotech/giant mecha rip-off), he is bad and he should feel bad. I have no doubt he was lying when he said we just misunderstood him and he forgot to tell anyone.
