Press Release
Archie Comics, the largest mass market comic book publisher in North America, is taking the next step as the leader in the digital comics marketplace. Archie is proud to announce a new partnership with Google Play. Fans will be able to obtain direct access to Archie and Archie-licensed comics anywhere the Google Play store is available.
The official launch date for Archie Comics on Google Play is Thursday, April 18th, with over 500 periodical titles available. Archie, Betty and Veronica, Life with Archie, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, New Crusaders, plus an array of Digital Exclusives, including the best-selling anniversary edition of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, are just a few examples of Archie titles that will be offered through the Google Play Books app. To kick off this initiative, from launch until April 30th users can purchase select back issues of every Archie title on the app for only $0.99.
Archie Comics broke new ground in the digital marketplace in early 2011 by being the first comic publisher to go day-and-date. This was the first time a comic book publisher released both print and digital comics simultaneously, setting the standard for all other comic companies who have picked up this practice since. Archie will continue to earn its status as a digital leader with Google Play, again being the first comic book publisher on the app to go day-and-date, expanding the brand’s growth both domestically and internationally.
