    Press Release

The valley of the sun is welcoming back the very best talents in comics for The Arizona Comic Mini Expo on May 4, 2013. ACME is a one-day event being held in conjunction with Free Comic Book Day at the Samurai Comics location on Country Club and Southern in Mesa.

Arizona based artist Ryan Cody started the event last year, and wanted to see it grow for 2013. “Last year was great, we had about 15 of the state’s best creators, all in one spot for a free event. This year I wanted it to be even better, so we’re bringing in some really great guests to compliment the amazing wealth of talent we already have.”

With the generous help of our corporate sponsors Samurai Comics & Bookmans Entertainment Exchange of Mesa, and Acme Prints in Scottsdale, we are able to have the best line-up anywhere in the Southwest. Guests include: Erik Larsen, a co-founder & former publisher of Image Comics, creator of Savage Dragon and former Marvel and DC artist; Eric Canete, an animator for DC/Warner Bros. and comic artist with credits at Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse among others; former Flash writer and DC Comics editor Brian Augustyn; Invincible co-creator, Marvel and Image Comics artist Cory Walker; Aspen Comics and Dark Horse artist Tony Parker; Boom Studios & Image artist Scott Godlewski; Animator and illustrator Cassandra Poulson; Image Comics colorist and creator Jay Fotos; Marvel and DC colorists Hi-Fi Color; Image Comics and sketch card artist Ben Glendenning; Red 5 and Image Comics creator Ryan Cody; Boom Studios and Big Dog Ink writer Eric Esquivel; Image and Tokyopop artist Armand Villavert; Contraband Comics’ Jon Goff & Jim Hanna and self publishers and independent creators Val Hochberg, Rob Osborne,, John “Dadicus” West, Jason Gonzalez and Ernie Najera round out the guest list.

With a focus on comics, writers, artists, colorists and editors that have done work for every major publisher in the country, ACME offers something for everyone, and it’s all for free. A one day mini-convention for the fans.

The event takes place at the Samurai Comics location in Mesa, AZ on May 4th, 2013.
