Variety is reporting that Tom Hardy (Bane) has been hired to star in the movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell videogame.
Hardy will play Sam Fisher, a highly-trained special operative in a fictional black-ops operation called Echelon.
No studio has stepped up on this project, but often having a recognizable name attached to the project gets people to sit up and pay more attention. With over 23 million copies of Splinter Cell sold, I’m sure there is a lot more interest in what Ubisoft is doing. Lately Ubisoft is getting a lot of attention for the game to movie adaptations, previously we’ve been following the Assassin’s Creed movie that is set to star Michael Fassbender.
