TELEVISION: Arrow scores big for The CW

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherOctober 12, 20125 Comments1 Min Read

The numbers are in, and for The CW, Arrow hit the mark for 4.02 million viewers, which broke a few records for the network.

The interesting thing about the announcement is that Arrow reached more viewers than any other show on the network in three years, which includes the series finale of Smallville. The CW was able to tie NBC during the time slot, which is a big deal for the network.

For those of you who did watch the premiere, be sure to share your thoughts in the Major Spoilers Talk Back.

I thought the episode was pretty good. It wasn’t ground breaking by any means and it did follow a very specific formula. But, I am hoping part of that this is a pilot and the need to set up everything.

I am will be sticking around until the end of the season.

I do have to clarify that I don’t know anything about the comic character Green Arrow so I couldn’t tell you if this followed the comics.

It didn’t quite “follow” the comics (well, I don’t think it was really even that close), but it had a lot of “nods” to the comic: “Speedy”, the girlfriend named “Laurel”, etc. I haven’t watched the whole episode yet (saw about 5-8 minutes), but I plan on doing so at my earliest convenience! ^_^ I’ve been looking forward to it for most of the summer, so I’m glad that it did so well! Yayyyy Ollie!

The only thing I know about Green Arrow is the review the MSP crew did on Longbow Hunters. I thought the pilot was okay. Definitely seen worse pilots do better shows. The part I don’t understand is how he learned the parkour (sp?) and martial arts on the island.

I’ll stick to the comic that way I won’t be disappointed.
