NYCC’12: Nancy Drew graphic novel to premiere at convention

Press ReleaseBy Press ReleaseOctober 4, 20124 Mins Read

    Press Release

Nancy Drew,  one of detective fiction’s most beloved heroines for more than 80 years, is getting an all-new graphic novel treatment this month when Papercutz premieres NANCY DREW AND THE CLUE CREW #1: “Small Volcanoes” at New York Comic-Con, two weeks ahead of its October 30, 2012 release date.

Longtime fans will find lots of surprises in the new series, which reveals that Nancy was solving mysteries as early as eight-years-old. “Though she has yet to experience all the life lessons that will make her a brilliant teen detective, young Nancy’s quest for the truth is compulsive,” said series writer Sarah Kinney. “She must use all her creativity to unlock the many puzzles that pop up in River Heights!”

Budding detectives of all ages will find many other treats at New York Comic-Con. “Nancy Drew, Comics Detective,” a panel delving into the history of Nancy in comics, will be held on Sunday, October 14 from 2:45 to 3:45. Hosted by Jenn Fisher of the Nancy Drew Sleuths fan network, the panel will feature expert insight from super-fan Todd Latoski, super-librarian Scott Robbins, and the entire CLUE CREW creative team.

At Papercutz Booth #928, series writers Stefan Petrucha and Sarah Kinney and artist Stan Goldberg will be on-hand to sign books on Saturday at 11:00 and Sunday at 4:00. As a special treat for fans, Stan Goldberg will be drawing free Nancy Drew sketches on Sunday at 11:00.

“Nancy Drew has inspired fans for many generations with her zest for mysterious adventures and her bold style,” said Jenn Fisher of Nancy Drew Sleuths. “It will be quite a treat to see her adventures as an 8-year-old sleuth come to life in the capable hands of Papercutz.”

NANCY DREW AND THE CLUE CREW #1: “Small Volcanoes” (64pp | Paperback ISBN: 9781597073547 / $6.99 | Hardcover ISBN: 9781597073554 / $10.99) is written by Stefan Petrucha (POWER RANGERS, Timetripper) and Sarah Kinney and illustrated by Stan Goldberg (THE THREE STOOGES, Sabrina the Teenage Witch). Papercutz graphic novels are available at all major retailers, bookstores, comic book stores, and digitally on comiXology.com.
