Press Release
THE ADVENTURES OF A COMIC CON GIRL, a brand-new comic book series geared toward both young women into geek culture and convention-goers, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help publish the last issue in the three-part story.
THE ADVENTURES OF A COMIC CON GIRL co-stars and is co-written by Dana Braziel-Solovy, who began her own adventures on the convention circuit in 2008. “I’ve worked or worked with just about every job you can find on a convention floor,” she says. “I knew I had to tell the stories of what happens behind the scenes, but you can’t just can’t explain conventions with words—comic books seemed like the perfect medium.”
The series is co-written by Matthew Spradlin, author of the best-selling graphic novel Bad Kids Go to Hell, drawn by David Beauchene and published by Antarctic Press. The first issue was published today with the second to follow in September. Braziel-Solovy has self-financed publication of the series thus far, but is seeking support from her fellow geeks to finish the project through the Kickstarter project, which has a goal of $5,000. A graphic novel is planned that will encompass the series.
“This project has been an amazing journey—launching a comic has been, honestly, a dream come true,” Braziel-Solovy says. “Geeks and fandom are my family, and I’m so grateful for any support they can offer to help the COMIC CON GIRLS find their happy ending.”
The series follows the character of Dana and her friends, Tatiana and Molly, as they navigate the convention circuit. Many of the adventures that present themselves are oddly identical to the drama of everyday life.

ABOUT DANA BRAZIEL-SOLOVY
Yes, Dana Braziel-Solovy has a day job. On the weekends, she’s a Comic Con Girl, adding to the colorful tapestry that is the science fiction and pop culture convention circuit. ABOUT MATTHEW SPRADLIN
Matthew Spradlin loves chaos (writing about it, rather than being in it). He’s watched shenanigans on convention show floors for years, and is ready to expose them to the world. Spradlin is the co-creator and co-writer of the best-selling graphic novel Bad Kids Go to Hell, and co-wrote and directed the movie adaptation of the series, which stars Judd Nelson.
ABOUT DAVID BEAUCHENE
ADVENTURES OF A COMIC CON GIRL is David Beauchene’s first series, but he’s been drawing for many years and specializes in adorable women. His affection for drawing realistic women with beautiful features made him the natural choice to draw a comic about girls who attend conventions.
