Still hot off Chronicle, director Josh Trank has joined with Sony Pictures to bring a big screen adaptation of Shadow of Colossus to life.
The protagonist is a young man who thinks his lover has died. Desperate to bring her back, he heads into a forbidden land, and summons a demon who can wake the dead. The price for bringing back his girl: slay 16 colossi that dominate this mystical place.
With some of the amazing special effects seen in movies like Wrath of the Titans, and The Avengers, having the character battling giant monsters roaming the plains seems like a pretty easy task to bring to life. If Trank can do it for less than $100 million (Chronicle cost $13 million), then Sony may have a hit on their hands. The bigger hope is Shadow of Colossus doesn’t go the way of Prince of Persia or DOOM!
While this picture begins to form, word from Deadline also has Trank developing the next Fantastic Four movie for Fox, and a Venom flick for Sony.

My problem with this isn’t that it may or may not be pulled off. My problem is that if they do pull it off, that they’ll try to turn it into a franchise.
Okay, so the main character would be killing ALL 16 Colossi? How long would this movie be exactly? Or maybe they’ll have a Colossi killing montage.
And that’s just terrible. Like this idea.
