Wow– gladiator armor, a cape, and sunglasses in space. If he’s got pouches on his legs I’d say Liefeld designed this.
The sad thing is, Pitch Black was a great little piece of sci-fi/horror. It established Riddick as a really strong anti-hero. The Chronicles movie just changed direction completely.
I have to disagree. “The Chronicles of Riddick” was a really good “space opera” and the sets and costumes were awesome. The symbolism behind the Necromongers and their “religion/government” was interesting and doggone it, I still like the line “I’m going to kill you with my tea cup.” I often wondered what happened after Riddick “kept what he killed” in the Necromonger Empire. And he’s had the glasses the whole time so you can’t blame Leyfield for that.
Yeah the Chronicles of Riddick film probably could’ve been done better, but the Anime “the Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena was as good if not better than Pitch Black
