MOVIES: The Amazing Spider-Man press conference

Robot OverlordBy Robot OverlordJanuary 19, 20126 Comments1 Min Read

There was a press conference in Japan to promote the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man movie, and there are some very interesting story details that are revealed.

“In our movie, [Peter] finds his true love,” said Avi Arad, when asked what sets this adventure apart from Sam Raimi’s trilogy. “Gwen Stacy was always the true love of Peter Parker… We found a very, very good story about what makes a human being. About what sets their destiny.”

    The Amazing Spider-Man arrives July 03, 2012.

His true love? I dunno. His first love, yes. So few people are still together with the person they dated in high school. But hype on, Avi. More power to ya…

I think Gwen really was the love of his life… for a great perspective on his love for Gwen, read Spider-Man: Blue… it’s heartbreakingly beautiful.

I think Gwen was Peter’s first and true love. And remember, Peter and Gwen met at ESU. He didn’t know her in high school. Many people marry significant others from college. Staying together is hard for everyone, no matter when they meet.

Peter Parker is pretty much a cad. Ask Deb Whitman, Felicia Hardy, Liz Allan, Marcy Kane, Carlie Cooper, his ex-roommate, Ms. Marvel, and indeed, 80% of the non-May-Parker residents of the Marvel Universe.
