DIGITAL COMICS: Zenescope partners with comiXology

Press ReleaseBy Press ReleaseNovember 9, 20111 Comment4 Mins Read

    Press Release

Zenescope and comiXology are proud to announce the launch of the dedicated Zenescope iOS App http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zenescope/id449184948?ls=1&mt=8 and digital storefront https://comics.comixology.com/affiliates/zenescope/ today November 9th, 2011.

Comic fans everywhere can now buy Zenescope comics on the Zenescope iOS App and Storefront and also on the Comics by comiXology platform for iOS, Android and the web. Purchases sync across all devices and platforms supported by comiXology delivering to comiXology users a true “buy once, read anywhere” end-user experience.

To celebrate the App and storefront launch, Zenescope and comiXology will be offering Grimm Fairy Tales issues #1-43 will be half- off between today and this Friday!  Join heroine Sela Mathers, a modern day Snow White, as she takes a trip through the world of fairy tales and fables where legends come to life.

Zenescope will also be expanding its release strategy to include three new same day as print releases — the highly anticipated Return To Wonderland prequel Alice In Wonderland beginning this December and Jurassic Strikeforce 5, Zenescope’s first original, ongoing comic series from their all ages imprint, Silver Dragon Books launching this November with issue #0. Also, Zenescope’s Charmed series — based on the CBS television series and a New York Times best seller, will go same day as print in January 2012.

“We’re very excited to develop and expand our partnership with comiXology. Digital distribution offers us the opportunity to reach so many potential fans who may not otherwise be exposed to our books,” said Zenescope’s President and CCO Joe Brusha. “ComiXology has clearly established itself as the leader in digital comics distribution and were thrilled to be launching our first app with them.”

“Zenescope and comiXology’s relationship stretches back to the start of Comics by comiXology, and it’s great to take this next step in our relationship,” said comiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger. “Zenescope titles have been a strong seller for us since day one and we look forward to getting their comics into the hands of fans all over the world.”

Zenescope has long had great success with digital comics. In 2010, the Return to Wonderland series was the #5 paid download among all digital comics sold in the comiXology app. In addition to the two new same day as print releases announced today.

For the past seven Wednesdays in a row, the Comics by comiXology iPad application has been ranked the number one top grossing iPad application in the iTunes App Store.
