THANKS: Why we do it…

The Major Spoilers Crew loves working on the site.  It doesn’t matter if we are putting together a review, a podcast, an opinion piece, or even a bit of news from the publishers, each and every day, the ten of us who contribute on a regular basis are here to entertain and inform you, our dear, dear Major Spoilerites.  And though the hours are long, and the Robot Overlord is a terrible slave driver, finding out we do affect change is always great when we hear it from you.

Dear Major Spoilers,

Thank you for all your time that you given to us fans.

To give you some bio, I am a mid 30’s guy, two kids, wife and a soldier in the U.S. Army.  I have never read a comic until a couple weeks ago. I came upon your podcast because I use to play WoW and I loved to listen to Scott and Randy. (I even gave Randy my WoW backpack I got from Dell). Anyway, I stopped playing WoW, but started listening to Critical Hit, then to Major Spoilers, and now, Top 5.

I have always liked movies and pop culture, so listening to Major Spoilers was fun and interesting, plus I liked your interaction with one another. Well, after reading and listening about the lead up to the new DC 52, I decided to take the plunge.  Previously, I was concerned about not being able to figure out what was going on, but I felt this was a fresh start.  So with some advice from the forum, reading the reviews on the site and some guessing, i bought some of the titles and I’m glad I did.

I’m an amateur reader, but I liked and am planning to follow Batgirl.  I loved the story and the art.  I can personally understand her fears and her thoughts at the end, plus the art was beautiful. I liked The Flash and I liked Green Lantern. Sinestro’s frustration and Hal’s desperation and blindness came alive for me.  I also dug Detective and Batman comics.  I loved the art and the story so far.  I am reading Green Arrow and Aquaman.  I like the pictures I saw of Ollie’s pointed goatee and I’m hoping he grows on in the New 52.  I liked the humor and how they are almost breaking the fourth wall with the Aquaman jokes.  

I was not a big fan of Suicide Squad or Red Lanterns. I’m kind of a “pro good guy” kinda guy (Alliance all the way).  I was also not a fan of Batwoman. I felt there was too much back story between her, her father and side kick, that had happened and I felt lost. 

Justice League was ok, I’m kinda on the fence and the same with Nightwing.

Long story longer, thank you for introducing me to this new medium of art.  I am completely amazed at the detail of the artwork and their ability to pack a story in a few pages. Thank you again for your time and keep up the great work.
