TEASER: Tom Brevoort hypes up Shattered Heroes

    Robot OverlordBy Robot OverlordAugust 18, 2011Updated:August 18, 201125 Comments1 Min Read

Marvel sent out another teaser image for the events to come after Fear Itself.

“The war is over, and the warriors return home, carrying with them scars of battle, both physical and mental. Now the cost will be tallied, the casualties buried and mourned, the rubble swept up and carted away. But the damage to our heroes isn’t easily repaired, the wounds not easily healed.  Decisions are made and lives are changed—can shattered heroes find renewed courage to go on?” – Tom Brevoort, SVP Executive Editor

So the idea is that we get to see all the Marvel heroes mope like Batman? I am really not feeling this and if I was; I would read me some Batman instead.

      Maybe they’re sad it’s a $4.99 issue.

Nah, it’s because the art (if you can call it that) is by John Romita.

JRJR was so much better before he found his “style.”

Yes! JRJR used to be my favorite artist. Way back. Now I skip all of it. I heard an interview where he basically said he worked a lot cause his wife liked to spend money. Could be that?

HA! I’m glad somebody else sees it! Pimpin is like Hulkin — It ain’t easy, but it sure is fun.

It’s like they forgot to draw the rest of him.

“Let’s see. For Hulk, let’s go with long hair and a beard, the usual big, broad shoulders, some gold chains, some unidirectional cross-hatching and a foot.”

All that money for the Thor movie, and now we have what looks like an alien with a shovel taking his place.
Is that the Swordsman’s son… and behind Valkyrie looks like Pulsar with her Cleopatra Jones original hairstyle.
I’m sure that I’m wrong on all counts… but, nothing about this picture makes me want to spend $5.00 to find out!
And, I do like John Jr’s artwork… usually.
I do like the Hulk… if that’s him… just need to drop the jewelry!
White Spidey does not work… and why is Dr. Strange such a wimp these days?
As a kid, I used to beg for 25 cents to by a couple of comics with most of these heroes in them… I just don’t recognize my old friends anymore.

“Our heroes lives are shattered. Can they pick up the pieces in time to face the coming storm?”

      The Coming Storm?

Plugging the next big event again. Remember when Marvel Comics use to have blurbs above the title like “World’s Greatest Super-Hero Team” and “World’s Greatest Non-Mutant Hero” instead of reserving that spot for the name of the big event that the title was tying in to?

Nope. Just giving a wink and a nod to the subtitle of the Fantastic Four XXX parody’s subtitle.
