SDCC’11: Marvel teases the return of Ben Rielly?

    Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJuly 23, 2011Updated:July 23, 20114 Comments1 Min Read

At the end of the Spider-Man panel at the San Diego Comic Con, Marvel showed the audience this image.

Fans of the Spider-Man universe instantly recognized the blue hoodie as the one that belongs/belonged to Ben Reilly, Peter Parker’s clone.  Does this mean Ben is back?  We’ll leave that for you to debate as you wait for the answer at some point in the future.  And by future we mean the very near future, as we expect to see Marvel solicitations for October as early as Monday.

I did like his costume… but *shudder*

I gotta say, with all the New 52 stuff, all of Marvel’s announcements seem… weak. “The retuern of Ben Reilly!” can’t really hold up when your competition is literally changing everything. The Marvel Universe is getting increasingly burdened and over-complicated, and all their announcements seem to add to that. Marvel isn’t looking very fresh to me right now.

It is about time, Ben Reilly was a great character. They need him back in the Marvel Universe.

SO they kill off the original Hobgoblin and replace him with an idiot who can laugh real loud then they do away with Spidey’s Spider Sense and of course we have that beautiful whole Brand New Day burst of genius and now this eh? Ben Reilly? Oh Spidey…comeback to us!!
