Variety is reporting that singer/actor Dwight Yoakam is in talks to join the Lone Ranger cast. If negotiations are successful, Yoakam will play Butch Cavendish, the leader of the gang that causes the Ranger all sorts of problems.
Yoakam will join Armie Hammer who will play the masked avenger and Johnny Depp who has secured the role of Tonto.

Now that would be good casting (Still haven’t figured out the Johnny Depp thing…). Anyone that has seen Yokum in movies knows that he can play a right good “dirty rat bastard”. “Slingblade” is one of my favorite movies simply because I knew people just like the characters that live right in my home area, including the scum-bucket played by Yokum. “Franch-fried taters….ummmm….”
I pray that this “train wreck” dies before production. Hollywood, they’ve already screwed it once before in the 80’s, Wild Wild West, 3:10 to Yuma, True Gritt, (the Dude could never fill the Duke’s boots), and Jonah Hex. Hollywood will continue to mess up westerns……..
