New Avengelyne series arrives in July

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherApril 1, 20112 Comments1 Min Read

According to Rob Liefeld, Avengelyne will return to the comic page this summer.  The new Image Comics series will be written by Mark Poulton, based on a story by Liefeld.  Art will be provided by Owen Gieni – a newcomer according to the artist.

Avengelyne is a comic book character co-created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian, and originally published in 1995 by Maximum Press. By the end of the 1990s, Avengelyne had a stint at Awesome Entertainment (one issue published only) and enjoyed a short stint at Avatar Press. It was recently announced that Avengelyne would be returning to comics in the Arcana Studio oneshot Avengelyne vs. Koni Waves due for a 2009 release.

Avengelyne is an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons, monsters, and the like. The original character design for Avengelyne was based on the likeness of former Vampirella model Cathy Christian.

Man, the Catholic Church might have a better reputation if their priests stopped hanging out with half naked chicks in graveyards.

I think what you meant to say was “the Catholic Church might have a better reputation if their priests STARTED hanging out with half naked chicks” instead of what they are constantly being accused of now…
