Marvel’s Point One initiative arrives today

Robot OverlordBy Robot OverlordFebruary 2, 20111 Comment2 Mins Read

When you head to the comic book shop today, don’t forget to take a moment to check out Marvel’s Point One initiative that kicks off today.  The thought behind the books is to give new readers a done in one jumping on point that is full of action with a $2.99 price point.

For proof, look no further than Invincible Iron Man #500.1 – the POINT ONE initiative’s official debut.  Tony Stark has always been a forward thinker, a man of the future living for today. But what happens when he decides to apply his latest upgrade to…himself?! An all-new, high-octane Iron Man story for a great price setting up all the characters, conflicts, and providing a unique insight into the mind of Tony Stark simply cannot be missed! A great starting point for fans of  the Armored Avenger as only the Eisner Award-winning team of Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca could tell it, discover why this is the series that continues to keep fans and critics on the edge of their seats, only in Invincible Iron Man #500.1!

For the next couple of weeks look for other point one issues including Wolverine #5.1, and Amazing Spider-Man $654.1.

I really don’t mean to spoil it for anyone and I thought it was a great read (particularly for someone like myself who ‘knows’ Iron Man but only just jumped on the book recently), but how is Tony re-telling his life’s story at an AA meeting “all-new” or “high-octane” …?

Invicible Iron Man #500.1 was nothing more than a glorified, 22-page, $2.99 “Previously in Invicible Iron Man …” summation.
