    There’s Trouble A Th’ Mill!

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonDecember 11, 201014 Comments1 Min Read

Batman has fought vampires, gangsters, aliens, Julius Caesar, a giant chicken.  (Or was that Peter Griffin?)   Heck, the Batman family has fought pretty much everyone!

But surely not EVERYONE, you say?

    Yes, EVERYONE.

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

      Amazing!

This is why I mine the treasures of the back issue bins, to find fun treasures like this. What issue is this from?

This is from Batman Family #3, from 1976. This one was written by Eliot S! Maggin…

My aunt just bought me a copy of Batman Family #1 at a thrift store the other day for $5.00. Along with 3 other first issues from 1973 and 1975.

      …Sorry.

I remember that issue. I think at the time I was one of the only people reading comics in my area that got the Monty Python joke.

    11. Ambrose Mugwump on December 12, 2010 3:21 am

Now that was definitely something completely different.

Omg… I just saw that episode yesterday, as a matter of coincidence. I think I find the Spanish Inquisition to be the funnier of the two. :D
