At one time, back in the 80s, The Savage Dragon was one of my favorite books. I still get a chuckle when I remember the early issue where the dragon is jumped by two super-powered goons, one of whom has the power of trees. When the Dragon defeated him the other baddy shouted “You beat Raging Woody!” and the dragon comments on the inappropriateness of such personal remarks. Sadly, as EriK Larsen got more popular, and started believing in his own press, he cut down on the pages of art in each book. I kept on buying the book until it got to the point where the letters pages, in which used to stroke his own ego, outnumbered the pages of art. I haven’t bought an issue since.
More power to you Erik! Put the mystery back into it. People should not know whether they like the book or not before they read it.
