Wizard World New England Comic Con: Adam West and Burt Ward join the guest list

Press ReleaseBy Press ReleaseSeptember 14, 20103 Mins Read

    Press Release

It will be like a trip to the Batcave for “Batman” fans as Adam West and Burt Ward, who played “Batman” and “Robin,” respectively, in the original television series, will both appear at Wizard World New England Comic Con, Oct. 15-17, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.  The “Dynamic Duo” will meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photograph opportunities.

West, a true American icon, is best known for his roles as “Batman” and to a younger generation as “Mayor Adam West” in the popular animated series “Family Guy.”  He has made nearly 50 movies, including starring or co-starring roles in DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, THE NEW AGE, THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIANS, AN AMERICAN VAMPIRE STORY, SOLDIER IN THE RAIN, ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS, and NEVADA SMITH.

He has had starring roles in several TV series other than Batman, including “The Detectives,” “The Last Precinct,” and “The Clinic.”  His theater credits include “Volpone” at the Mark Taper Forum at the Los Angeles Music Center.

For more on Adam West’s career and life, visit his personal Website at www.AdamWest.com and his Facebook page.

Though an avid comic fan growing up, Ward had somehow never read an issue of Batman when he first auditioned for the role of Robin. Quickly impressing the producers, Ward was cast as Robin alongside West’s Batman for an unforgettable three-season run that lasted 120 episodes.

The legacy of Batman has stayed with Ward throughout his career. He has reunited with West numerous times to reprise his role as Robin, and has also written an autobiography about his Batman experiences called “Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights.”

In recent years, Ward has founded a charitable organization called Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, Inc, which rescues giant breed dogs like Great Danes and some smaller breed dogs. He also runs Logical Figments, a special effects contractor that provides graphics and animation for commercials and occasional feature films including Bulletproof Monk.

Visit www.burtwardlive.com for updated information and news on Ward, and http://gentlegiantsrescue.com for more on Gentle Giants.

West and Ward join seven “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” stars including James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Nicholas Brendon, Ghostbusters’ Ernie Hudson and other celebrity guests, comic artists and industry professionals at the event.

The Hynes Convention Center is located at 900 Boylston Street in the Back Bay section of Boston.  New England Comic Con is the sixth stop on Wizard’s eight-city 2010 North American tour.  Hours are Friday, Oct. 15, 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 16, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (all times Eastern).  Tickets are available in advance or by calling 1-866-882-5860 and online at www.wizardworld.com/newengland.html at up to a 15% savings over tickets purchased at the door.  Advance adult single-day tickets are $25; three-day weekend tickets are $45, and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult).  VIP packages with special entry and exclusive items are also available.
