THIS WEEKEND: Star Trek Auction and Event

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherAugust 6, 20101 Comment2 Mins Read

Don’t forget this weekend is the Star Trek auction and event taking place at the Las Vegas Hilton that wraps on August 8 with an auction of over 450 items to be sold.

Props, costumes, production artwork, concept drawings, model spaceships and set décor will be on display for the entire event, culminating in the auction on Sunday, August 8. Most notable among the lots is the only surviving translight panel from the Original Series bridge, the Captain Kirk spacesuit filming miniature from Star Trek: The Motion Picture and a Sulu tunic from the Original Series. Also included are over 100 pieces of original concept art Rick Sternbach created for Star Trek and a complete set of Next Generation Enterprise D bridge furniture built for Star Trek: The Experience.

“This is truly a milestone event. Never before have so many fans had the opportunity to bid on such an incredible variety of items from the Star Trek universe,” said Alec Peters, CEO and founder of Propworx, the premier Hollywood studio auction company. “We are proud to partner with CBS Consumer Products to bring such a monumental piece of American pop culture directly to the fans and excited to be holding the event at the Creation’s Las Vegas Star Trek Convention, the foremost celebration of the Star Trek legacy.”

I just received the hardbound auction book and it is just as fantastic as the Iron Man auction Propworx put on a couple of months ago.  If you are in the Las Vegas area, head down to the LV Hilton between now and the end of the day on Saturday August 7, 2010 to preview the items. If you can’t be there in person, you can also bid live online.
