Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJune 30, 20105 Comments1 Min Read

There’s an all new Spider-Girl? And she has an all new origin? That’s what Marvel told me when this sneak peek to Amazing Spider-Man #637 arrived in the In Box.

    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #637 (MAY100551)
Written by JOE KELLY, J.M DEMATTEIS & STAN LEE
Penciled by MICHAEL LARK, MAX FIUMARA & MARCOS MARTIN
    Cover by OLIVIER COIPEL
    Variant by MIKE FYLES

The red-hot team of Joe Kelly and Michael Lark has brought Spider-Man and his allies to their knees—but the birth of the Marvel Universe’s new Spider-Girl—in an all-new costume—may be what the heroes need to win! And once the dust settles, Spider-Girl will change Spider-Man’s world forever, in ways no fan can afford to miss!

Waking up in the morning “changes (insert name)’s world FOREVER!”

Changing morning cereal “changes (insert name)’s world FOREVER!”

That phrase is so worn. Spiderman’s world never changes. In fact, when the character finally had a chance to act like an actual adult and play at the table with the big boys he cashes in his wife so he can go back to being a whiny single?

Joins the Avengers… Still a whiny wuss

      Defends Asgard … whiny wuss

      I’m with Jeff… Meh.

The art is really good, but honestly I wish more had been done with Byrne’s Spidergirl.

He used to be of my age group, and mine wasn’t an emo people. That’s part of the “no-change” people are talking about, I think…. He’s been “25-and-whiny” for, like, 20+ years now. I still read, but… Meh.
