The eleventh Doctor gets a finale trailer

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJune 15, 20109 Comments1 Min Read

I am so far behind on my Doctor Who viewing, so it is kind of disappointing that the season finale of the brand new season is here.

The Pandorica Opens on Saturday, June 12, 2010 on BBC One.

Don’t know who else watches this on the Canadian Space channel, but the theory they showed would make so much sense…

Where are you up to Steven?

Wow seemed like a short season. Maybe they are just airing it earlier to build hype

Standard 12 episodes season for Doctor Who, in Canada we’re up to the 8th episode and since we are 3 weeks late it came out at a normal time.

Bet it’s the Doctor(or some version of him) in the Pandorica.

Re-watch the trailer with that in mind, and it fits perfectly.

Sufficiently mysterious, while also containing a lot of tiny morsels to chew on. Definitely a good trailer. Although I sure hope this isn’t the end of the Matt Smith Doctor / Amy Pond duo. I do believe MS is my Doctor. :) (Other choices being vaugue recollections of Jon Pertwee and Colin Baker, as well as the later specials from the David Tennant era.)

Isn’t this a whole retread of the toclafane? Meaning “but it’s just a myth!” thing to build lame tension, when we will all probably guess what it is before the episode is half over. Cue “Space Jesus” or Amy who will be “space Mary”, who will reset it all.

What i find funny is, according to wikipedia about Pandora’s Box (and naming it like that is just uncreative), ” It was used for storage of wine, oil, grain or other provisions, or, ritually, as a container for a human body for burying. In the case of Pandora, this jar may have been made of clay for use as storage as in the usual sense, or of bronze metal as an unbreakable prison.” I give odds Amy’s fiance is in there, or the Valeyard, who was most likely the “dream master” from a few episodes back.

This whole season has been a ton of Meh for me. Too much “take amy on her honeymoon” type crap. Which is sad, because she’s so far my favorite companion, but when you know you have a huge danger, dragging out episodes with a little teaser in each just seems so stupid. Like, “Hm, universe is in danger, i know! Let’s go party!” Meh.
