Major Spoilers 3rd Annual Costume Contest: Meet the Entrants!

    Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherOctober 26, 2009Updated:October 28, 200925 Comments1 Min Read

We had a huge response to this year’s Major Spoilers Costume Contest.  We received close to 90 entries this year, making this the largest contest we’ve had to date.  Over the next couple of days we will narrow these entries down to the Top 5, and then it will be your turn to vote for the grand prize winner!

Take the jump for the complete gallery of entrants!

    UPDATE:  VOTING IS NOW OPEN!

The last couple of years, I took the time to break the entries down by character, along with my comments.  This year, because there are so many entries, I’m posting these as one giant gallery, so it’s easier to view (click on the thumbnail to make bigger!).

Thanks to everyone who entered this year, it’s great to see so many people interested dressing up as their favorite characters!

      • Jacin B on October 27, 2009 9:37 am

        Yeah.

My only nitpick (and it’s a minor one) is that one seems to have a bleeding costume. There’s fake blood and shredded fabric, but no “wounds” underneath. Otherwise, that’s a great and original take on the more traditional (and popular) pick.

    6. Galactoss on October 27, 2009 7:13 am

Wow, great effort by everyone who entered. Those are seriously good costumes! Some inspired choices too.

What the!? The guy in the Plas costume actually looks stretchy! How does he do that?

Plasticman is actually a friend of mine. There’s no photoshop, he really is that skinny and long in the body.

Fingers crossed he’s getting a brand new costume done and coming to DragonCon next year.

Massive love to the UK comic characters, specifically Tank Girl and the family of Judges. Hope the kid Judge has a shaved head under the helmet.

    15. GC5 on October 27, 2009 3:33 pm

Wow! Glad i don’t have to decide who the winner is. gotta say it’s nice to see familiar faces, especially familiar faces in new costumes! Ahh Comic book Cosplay, what a small world… :)

    16. hercules in ny on October 27, 2009 8:03 pm

      wow.
I can’t see any signs of retouching on that Plastic Man pic.
      That gets my vote.

    17. Jim on October 27, 2009 9:43 pm

While I’m not saying that it’s the best costume, I love the War Machine pushing a stroller image. And I will second the hotness of Mockingbird :)

    18. Kirby on October 27, 2009 10:43 pm

My top picks are: TT Robin, Atomic Robo, Plas, & Hellboy.
