Uncanny X-Men cover featuring Polaris. I always like to see the underlying pencils for pieces that are always colored and finished by the time the public sees them, so here you go.

Look more than a little like Madelyn Pryor (Goblin Queen) to me. Matter of fact, if it had not said Polaris, I would have sworn that was who it was.

Color version is probably much clearer, with the green hair and all.

      Looks nice.

Oh… … I thought it was Madelyne too. (shrugs)

Oh man…are we going back to Polaris’ “Goth Look?” Ugh, worse than the “Iron-Spider” look

This look for Polaris is from Chuck Austen’s run in 2003. The costumes took a kind of Manga influenced look on.

Polaris has had some very unfortunate outfits through the years. This getup from one of my least favorite periods of the X-Books is the worst of many odd design choices. (Check out what Northstar was wearing at the time).

Good call, Ocho, I did not realize this was Manga influenced. Whatever the influence, the design stank up the joint almost as much as the plot. Does anyone remember Nurse Annie? What was her purpose?

But this pencil work is nice, even better than the finshished cover. I will never appreciate the “Boulder Chest” look, but that’s probably an editorial mandate, nothing against the artist.
