The popular DC Universe animated original PG-13 films will showcase its next two releases at Comic-Con International with the World Premiere of Green Lantern: First Flight on Thursday, July 23, and a two-part panel featuring cast and filmmakers from Green Lantern: First Flight and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies on Friday, July 24.
Green Lantern: First Flight will receive its world premiere on Thursday, July 23 at 8:00 p.m. in the San Diego Convention Center’s 4,200-seat Ballroom 20. Green Lantern: First Flight finds Hal Jordan recruited to join the Green Lantern Corps and placed under the supervision of respected senior Lantern Sinestro. The earthling soon discovers his mentor is actually the central figure in a secret conspiracy that threatens the philosophies, traditions and hierarchy of the entire Green Lantern Corps. Hal must quickly hone his newfound powers and combat the treasonous Lanterns within the ranks to maintain order in the universe. Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) leads the cast as the voice of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern. The cast includes Emmy Award nominee Victor Garber (Milk, Titanic), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs), Juliet Landau (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and John Larroquette (Night Court). Produced by animation legend Bruce Timm, Green Lantern: First Flight is directed by Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman) and scripted by four-time Emmy Award-winning writer Alan Burnett (The Batman). A co-production of Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, Green Lantern: First Flight will be distributed by Warner Home Video on Blu-Ray™ Hi-Def and DVD on July 28, 2009.
On Friday, July 24 at 5:45 p.m. in SDCC’s 2,000-seat Room 6BCF, Warner Home Video will provide the inside scoop on the its next two action-packed entries in the DC Universe animated original PG-13 films – Green Lantern: First Flight & Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Split into two 45-minute panels, the Green Lantern: First Flight discussion will bring together executive producer Bruce Timm, renowned casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano, director Lauren Montgomery, writer Alan Burnett and members of the cast, including Juliet Landau (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Then Timm and Romano will be joined by supervising producer Michael Goguen (Justice League: The New Frontier), director Sam Liu (The Batman, Hulk vs.) and writer Stan Berkowitz (Justice League: The New Frontier) for the first public exhibition of film footage and discussion of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Kevin Conroy, the undisputed benchmark voice of Batman, joins the panel for his first Comic-Con appearance in six years, as will the definitive voice of Lex Luthor, Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption, Highlander). Based on the popular Jeff Loeb/Ed McGuinness comic series/graphic novel, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies finds United States President Lex Luthor using the oncoming trajectory of a kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime†Batman. Super heroes and super villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit super help – to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies will be distributed by Warner Home Video on September 29, 2009.
DC Comics Senior Vice President of Creative Affairs Gregory Noveck will moderate the entire 90-minute panel.
Autograph sessions have been scheduled for talent from both films. Green Lantern: First Flight cast and filmmakers will sign autographs Friday, July 24 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Superman/Batman: Public Enemies cast and filmmakers will sign autographs Saturday, July 25 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – and both autograph sessions will be held at the Warner Bros. Booth, located at position 4329 on the Comic-Con main floor.
