Meltdown Comics hosts 100 Bullets party, benifits Hero Initiative

Press ReleaseBy Press ReleaseJuly 7, 20093 Mins Read

    Press Release

Hero Initiative and Meltdown Comics are pleased to announce 100 Bullets: Last Shot, the farewell party to the critically acclaimed Vertigo/DC Comics series 100 BULLETS on July 11th, 2009. The party will take place at 7:30 PM at Meltdown Comics, 7522 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets to the party are available now at MeltComics.com .

The event coincides with the release of the final 100 BULLETS paperback, WILT. Copies will be available for sale at the event, with a limited edition tip-in plate signed by both writer Brian Azzarello and cover artist Dave Johnson.

Azzarello is making the trip from Chicago to L.A. for the party, and the goodbye will be handled in true Chicago speakeasy style. A pianist and torch singer will entertain, as cocktails flow in custom-etched 100 BULLETS shot glasses. A gallery of art from Johnson and series artist Eduardo Risso will line the walls, with select pieces auctioned off to benefit Hero Initiative, the charity dedicated to helping older comic creators in medical or financial need. A Q-and-A session with the creators is also planned as part of the night’s festivities.

A mere 75 VIP tickets are available at $150 per. VIP ticket holders will enjoy food, an open bar, guaranteed seating for the Q-and-A and auction, valet parking, a custom 100 Bullets shot glass, commemorative T-shirt, and more.

In addition, 35 standing-room-only tickets will be made available at $50 each, which will include food and bar.

100 Bullets: Last Shot is made possible via a generous contribution from Valve Software, an entertainment software and technology based in Bellevue, WA. The company’s debut title, Half-Life®, has won over 50 “Game of the Year” awards, and was named “Best PC Game Ever.”

Food and beverage are provided by Asahi, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, Coca-Cola, and Jaguar Vodka produced by Prestige Imports. Comic publisher Top Cow Productions of Los Angeles, CA is also a contributing sponsor.

    About Hero Initiative:
The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterday’s creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment. Since its inception, The Hero Initiative has had the good fortune to grant over $400,000 to the comic book veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today. For more information, visit www.heroinitiative.org or call 626-676-6354.

Charitable contributions tax deductions receipts will be given out the night of the event.
