Dynamite certainly surprised many with the announcement that Bill Willingham will be writing a new series for the company. For this and other announcements made at Saturday’s Wizard World Philly panel, just take the jump.
- Bill Willingham will be working on one to two new series for Dynamite!
- Athena series launch with Doug Murray and with art by Paul Renaud and Fabiano Neves with a bonus Obama storyline.
- Howard Chaykin library continues with Power and Glory TPB and a Howard Chaykin Retrospective interviewed by Bob Greenberger, that will be added to the Ramona Fradon retrospective interviewed by Howard Chaykin.
- “Truth and Dare†will make their first appearance in Project Superpowers: Chapter Two #3 AND Captain Future appears in #2. Also look for the special painted two page Man-Cat origin spread by Doug Klauba
- Project Superpowers: Meet the Bad Guys really features “The Bad Guys!†from “Bloodlust†to “The Revolutionary†and more!
- Project Superpowers Resin will begin shipping at the end of the year, beginning with the Black Terror bust. All resin will be in scale.
- The Boys #34 cover was “censored†by Diamond because of the swastika on the “hero’s†cape.
- The Boys will also have a special Dynamite 5th Anniversary HC Collection which begins in November (order now) and continues in to next year.
- The first Boys Definitive Edition is sold out, and Dynamite is offering Volume 2 in the next issue of Previews.
- Alex Ross is continuing the Thulsa Doom 1st story arc covers at least through issue #4.
- Marc (Amazing Spider-Man) Guggenheim is writing a Classic Battlestar Galactica 1980 story that begins in September. He’s been working on this for a few years, and we’ve assigned an artist, Cezar Razek. The cover is by painter Lucio Parrillo.
- The Lone Ranger “Russ Heath/Cary Bates†Strips will be Dynamite’s premiere Strips collection, and the cover is planned to be drawn by Russ Heath with John Cassaday on inks. The book will be art directed and designed by John Cassaday with Dynamite’s own Josh Johnson and Jason Ullmeyer.
- Dead Irons will be receiving the Hard Cover treatment before the SC Collection thanks to the beautiful work of Jim Kuhoric, Jason Shawn Alexander and Jae Lee. There will be a new series next year.
- The Good, The Bad and the Ugly #1 ships in stores July 8th (the same day as The Man With No Name Vol. 1 SC). Please pick it up. It’s by Chuck Dixon and Esteve polls.
- Matt Wagner will be writing “The Green Hornet: Year One†separate from Kevin Smith. John Cassaday will be the regular cover artist. Alex Ross will do a cover to #1, and John may bring a few friends along for covers. Hhhhmmmmmm…
- Both The Trial of Sherlock Holmes and The Complete Dracula will come out in Hard Covers in October.
- The Dawn 20th Anniversary Trading Card series will be available for pre-order in the next issue of Previews celebrating 20 years of Joseph Michael Linsner’s Dawn!
- The Boys: Herogasm #2 was returned in full by a retailer. Doesn’t “Mature Readers†give anyone a hint? :-)
- Garth Ennis’ Battlefields will be collected – all 3 initial volumes, with art by Russ Braun, Peter Snejberg and Carlos Ezquerra, – in a Complete HC, for the 4th Quarter
- Dynamite is releasing our first New Battlestar Galactica Omnibus featuring the entire first 13 issues written by Greg Pak, with bonus story by Brandon Jerwa, in time for the new series in October.
- Borderline Volume 3 is scheduled to ship in 3rd Quarter of this year.
- Matt Wagner’s beautiful covers and art to Zorro are being turned in to a statue, with art direction from Matt himself.

“Galactica: 1980”? For frak’s sake, WHY? Are they pulling our leg?
I had to check the calendar. I thought “Galactica 1980” was an April Fools joke. But I am intrigued.
