Here’s your roundup of announcements and items revolving around Marvel on the first day of the New York Comic Con 2009.
- The Old Man Logan arc by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s will conclude with “Old Man Logan: Giant Sized Special”.
- Mark Millar is interested in telling more stories set in the Old Man Logan Universe.
- Young X-Men will end with issue #12, but New Mutants will begin in May. Zeb Wells and Diogenes Neves will work on the new series. New Mutants picks up where the 80’s series ended, and gives fans a look at how the characters turned out.
- The New Mutant team will consist of Cannonball, Magma, Sunspot, Illyana, Xi’an, and Dani Moonstar.
- No word on who the villain will be in the first New Mutants story arc, but it will be a classic villain.
- Daniel Way and Marjorie Liu will write Dark Wolverine, which will hit stores in June, which will feature Daken in the lead role.
- Cyclops will send a team Back to the Future to find out what has happened to Cable in the ongoing Messiah War.
- There’s a new redhead in Scott Summers life, and it has to do with a certain young child Cable is dealing with in the future.
- Nightcrawler is quitting the X-Men
- Don’t worry, there isn’t going to be an X-Men weekly series. There are plans for X-Men Forever – a bi-weekly series by Chris Claremont and Tom Grummett.
- If you are in France, you’ll be able to find an original X-Men graphic novel written by Chris Claremont. eBay, here we come!
- Wolverine and Domino team up in X-Force: Sex & Violence – arriving in late 2009.
- Christos Gage and Jay Faerber are working on an online-only series called War of Kings: Warriors running May through July on the Marvel site.
- Guardians of the Galaxy #11 and #12 will ship bi-weekly.
- Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Havok, and Rachel Grey are the New Guardians?
- War of Kings: Ascension runs May-August.
- Jonathan Hickman and Dale Eaglesham will be the new Fantastic Four creative team once Millar and Bryan
- Hitch wrap up their arc in September.
- Dale Eaglesham has signed an exclusive contract with Marvel and his debut work will be an eight-page back up story in Amazing Spider-Man.
- Dark Reign: Young Avengers will be a five issue mini-series beginning in May.
- Other Dark Reign titles include:
- Dark Reign: The Hood
- Dark Reign: Zodiac
- Dark Reign: Mr. Negative
- Dark Reign: Anti-Venom
- Dark Reign: Fantastic Four
- Dark Reign: Hawkeye

- There are probably more, just look at the extensive number of titles from Marvel and put a Dark Reign tag in front of them.
- Captain Britain and MI 13 is not canceled.

Whoa – the news of that New Mutants book single-handedly renewed my interest in comic books. Cannot wait!
I’m curious about that online War of Kings thing and I need a serious answer rather than knee jerk Marvel bashing: Is it worth my time to look into? The WoK one-shot blew my midn so completely I’m buying every title with that logo even Darkhawk and the Guardians title…
