    Mike Mignola Joins Hobbit Team

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJanuary 23, 20096 Comments1 Min Read

Guillermo del Toro confirmed to MTV News that hellboy creator Mike Mignoloa was coming on board the Hobbit production team to help out with early visualizations for the film.  Having seen del Toro’s take on Hellboy and knowing the two can create some rather twisted and scary images, I’m hopeful the Orcs come out of their caves with some badass designs that scare me as much as the Rankin-Bass design did when I was a wee tot.

they’re aiming to scare the sh*t out of children. if i recall, the hobbit is a kid story (not by today standard of course).

for some reason this concerns me.

Sounds like a perfect fit for the more “old time fairy taley” The Hobbit.

Actually, The Hobbit is not a kid’s story. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis had extensive arguments about writing fantasy stories for children when Lewis was working on the Narnia stories and Tolkien wrote his middle earth stories.

I think ‘The Hobbit’ is shaping up to be really good. It definitely has the potential to live up to the ‘Rings’ films. I can’t wait.
