    Final Crisis #5 Annotated

In this special episode (recorded December 15, 2008), Matthew and Stephen break down the latest issue of DC’s Final Crisis in a page by page commentary.

    Final Crisis #5
Written by Grant Morrison; Art and covers by J.G. Jones, Carlos Pacheco and Jesus Merino
Humanity enslaved! Time shattered and bleeding! Anti-Life triumphant! Can Earth’s demoralized, beaten heroes rally their scattered forces for the ultimate super-battle against the nightmare armies of Apokolips when the forces of good meet the forces of evil on the bridge to Blüdhaven? As Darkseid’s presence causes reality itself to sicken and the lights to go out across the universe, as even the Guardians fall, the true power of the evil gods finally reveals itself, and a major character returns for a shocking conclusion.

Does the secret of humankind’s salvation lie in a mysterious cave painting and a bolt of lightning? Or has the Last Day come for us all?

      Guys,

Catching up on all the podcasts this weekend. One thing that struck me was when discussing Hal being the Lantern of 2814.1. For some reason I am wanting to believe that Kyle and Guy are Lanterns 2814.3 and 2814.4. I think that this was brought up in either Green Lantern: Rebirth or the Green Lantern ongoing.

Dang! Should have listened to the whole thing before commenting…it’s Amanda Waller at Checkmate.

      Final thoughts:

Trust your instincts guys. You are getting all the clues. It is Metron, the “Gravity Well” theory is correct, the symbol on Shilo’s mask is the same symbol that was on the circuit AND the one that Metron showed Anthro in the opening of the book, and you are pretty much spot on with the rest. I have found that re-reading all the issues helped me understand the mini as a whole thus far. It’s all there. Seriously.

only just catching up on the podcasts!!
I’m pretty awful at knowing who background characters are BUT I did spot that, on the double page spread of the heroes advancing on BludHaven, the vehicles are the Metal Men!…I think.
