    Written by Jeph Loeb
Art by Chris Bachalo & Art Thibert
    Cover by Chris Bachalo

The moody miniseries by award-winning writer Jeph Loeb (BATMAN: HUSH, Hulk, Ultimatum) with art by Chris Bachalo (DEATH: THE HIGH COST OF LIVING) and Art Thibert (TRINITY) is available once more in this new printing of a Vertigo classic, featuring a section of sketches by Bachalo.
The setting is Manhattan, where the mysterious Amanda Collins moves through the troubled lives of ordinary people armed with little more than a blank white business card and a strange, supernatural presence. She’s giving them the chance to change their lives, but the choice they make will depend entirely on the forces that already exist in their hearts. Amanda herself is a mesmerizing presence and, as she works modern magic with the help of a colorful — if not entirely loyal — coterie of followers, another side of her begins to emerge: one that is troubled, powerful and possibly centuries old. At the crossroads of the supernatural and the very real, this book spins bold, provocative tales of sin, magic and redemption.

WTF. NO Planetary AGAIN. Yes, I know Warren Ellis has CLAIMED on his blog that Cassaday is half way done with Issue 27. But you’ll forgive me if I don’t believe that blatant lie. Warren Ellis ALSO CLAIMED that Cassaday had begun drawing it in JUNE 2008. Warren Ellis’ own disdain for Planetary is disgraceful, but it explains why he doesn’t give a **** about what Planetary fans think.

      Random Thoughts:

Concerning the cover of Battle for the Cowl #1: Is it just me, or is Batwoman sticking her foot up Catwoman’s backside? Selena certainly looks like she has some discomfort (aside from being saddled with a ROCK HARD left breast upon which gravity has no effect). Batwoman apparently took Martian Manhunter’s death pretty hard and redesigned her mask/cowl in his likeness. Don’t those ears make Huntress look like a member of Josie and the Pussycats?

So the Guardian is back…and now able to sky surf on his flying sheild?

Azreal, Mr. Sinister called and he wants those fin thingies back. And Robin from the Teen Titan cartoons wants his Chuck Taylor All Star canvas basketball shoes.

The new Kryptonian Nightwing…that poncho paired with a thin gold headband…it’s kinda, I dunno kinda…not that there’s anything wrong with…it’s just so…

YES!! Batman-related one shots galore!! That’s almost enough to make me forgive the fact that there isn’t going to be any Detective or Batman comics coming out for three months. I can’t wait to see what Oracle does with herself now that she FINALLY disbanded Birds of Prey (that comic was worse than the TV series)! I could go without Azrael though. If they make him the new Batman again… OMG, let’s not even go there. Looks like Batman and the Outsiders is getting dropped because it’s just Outsiders now and doesn’t even look like Batgirl or Catwoman or even affiliated, screw that! That magazine would be so good if it had more Bat characters in it. Who the hell cares about Black Lightning?!
I think a new Batman poster wouldn’t look bad on my wall either!!

I wonder what the “shocking occurrence in the Phantom Zone” is. I assume it’s the reason we’re seeing Mon-El out of the zone (and I assume immune to lead poisoning?)
