Marvel Sneak Peek: The Stand: Captain Trips

It doesn’t arrive until September, but Marvel has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek at its adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.  The first arc follows the first 19 days of the Captain Trips outbreak that kills 99.4% of the population.  As good as the Dark Tower series was, I think The Stand is going to be the King adaptation everyone will want to read.

The Stand, which is commonly deemed as King’s most popular novel, is a story of Biblical proportions; after a government-made virus mows down majority of the human race, the few survivors must band together in order to survive.  With visually stunning interiors from Eisner-nominated artist, Mike Perkins (Captain America, House of M: Avengers), the human race is going make their last stand!  Plus, a mind blowing, sketch variant from acclaimed artist Lee Bermejo and the first of five connecting variant covers from Perkins!

Wow. The page of the wife and baby is creepier than anything I could have imagined.

Yeah, the Dark Tower is losing me. I’ve read about 2/3 of the Gunslinger, and figured that the comics would help me out in understanding what exactly Roland was about. The first Dark Tower mini was really good, but this recent one has been kinda meh for me. However, being that The Stand is probably my favorite novel EVAR, I’m going to be all over this.
