    WWC: Rapid-Fire DC Roundup

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJune 28, 20082 Comments3 Mins Read

    wwcdcpicon.jpg

Here’s all the news from DC that we’ve found coming out of Wizard World Chicago so far.

    wwcdcimage.jpgDC Universe Online
The game will be a mix of traditional MMO and action console.  A unique blend, but I wonder if players are ready for that?
You won’t get to play the big characters like Superman or Wonder Woman, but you will be able to fight along side them (will this be the action console portion of the game?)
You can create and play super villains in the game.
Game play takes place in Metropolis and Gotham City
Jim Lee said there is a possibility that  quests and characters from the game would show up in future DC tentpole events.

    DC Nation Panel
Wally West is part of the Titans team and will be around for the foreseeable future.
DiDio assured the attendees that Final Crisis will be more clear as the story progresses.  And readers of my previous Final Crisis review should note that it has now been spelled out by DiDio that the Fifth World hasn’t arrived yet – but I’m still betting the old New Gods are going to be a part of it.
We’ll all have to check out Blackest Night to see if the original Aquaman returns.
Coming on board Gail Simone’s new Secret Six will be Deadshot, Catman, Scandal, Ragdoll, an “A-list Batman villain” and a new villain cooked up by Simone.  Apparently this new villain is one bad muther-effer.
Ravager is the leader of the Terror Titans.
Bart Allen returns in Legion of Three Worlds – most awesome news of the day.
Plans for Dr. Fate have been set aside for the time being, but the character will appear in the Reign in Hell mini-series.
Ethan Van Scriver and Gail Simone are working on a Wonder Woman book together.
Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle are the new creative team for the Supergirl title beginning with issue #34.
Expect to see Mary Marvel and Supergirl duke it out.
    Lobo will return
Don’t expect to see any new Jack Knight stories as James Robinson feels the story is done. However, fans will see a Starman Omnibus come out once or twice a year until the series is collected.
    Christopher Kent will return.
Still no release date for All-Star Wonder Woman.

    DC Crisis Panel
Here’s the rundown of all the Final Crisis Tie-ins:

    • Final Crisis: Requiem – dealing with J’onn J’onnz death
    • Final Crisis: Rogues’ Revenge – Fallout from Salvation Run
    • Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds
    • Final Crisis: Revelations – expect to see Spectre, The Question, Libra, and the Spear of Destiny appear
    • Final Crisis: Superman Beyond
    • Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns
    • Final Crisis: Resist
    • Final Crisis: Submit

“Wonder Woman’s Doomsday” will follow the current barbarian arc.
Those scientists that were collecting soil samples from locations of mass death?  A new villain called Genocide.
Three Kingdom Come one-shot specials are planned to examine the characters currently in the Justice Society of America titles.
Casandra Cain returns in a Batgirl mini-series.
Questions were asked about a possible Flash reboot, but DiDio would not comment.
Simon Dark will interact with more of the DCU…for what that’s worth…

More as it comes in.  If you have any news or photos to share from the show, please contact me.

They can’t do anything with the rebooted Dr. Fate thanks to the cl*sterf*ck that was the final issue of his origin story. Basically, he can be mystic-in-the-background and make vaguely magick-y Ditko gestures when called upon, but that’s about it.
