Meet Steve Blum, the Green Goblin

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherApril 23, 20082 Mins Read

He’s the announcer for Cartoon Network’s Toonami. You’ve heard him on The Powerpuff Girls, Naruto, Ben 10, and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. You probably know him best as the English voice of Spike Spiegel from my favorite anime series of all time Cowboy Bebop. This weekend, you’ll know Steve Blum as The Green Goblin.

Steve_Blum_at_microphone.jpgBlum has been called the “King of Anime” for his monumental number of credits within the industry. Blum’s trademark voice can be found in a variety of characters within the anime realm, though his prolific voiceover career has moved seamlessly between all animated mediums, including voices for traditionally animated cartoons and films, commercials and video games.

Blum is also the voice of Vincent Valentine for the dub cast of the direct-to-DVD release, “Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.” His many anime credits include “Goku Midnight Eye,” “Kyôshoku sôkô Guyver,” “Akira,” “Ôritsu uchûgun Oneamisu no tsubasa,” “Amagaedun uzu,” “Jûichi-nin iru!” and “Hokuto no Ken,” “Chôjikû seiki Ôgasu.”

Blum pulled double duty on “Digimon: Digital Monsters,” both writing more than 20 episodes and providing the voice of Yamaki in 39 episodes.

Blum will have the honor of voicing another Marvel character in the upcoming Wolverine and the X-Men animated series coming soon (hint: he doesn’t play the part of “and the X-Men).

Stephen Schleicher began his career writing for the Digital Media Online community of sites, including Digital Producer and Creative Mac covering all aspects of the digital content creation industry. He then moved on to consumer technology, and began the Coolness Roundup podcast. A writing fool, Stephen has freelanced for Sci-Fi Channel's Technology Blog, and Gizmodo. Still longing for the good ol' days, Stephen launched Major Spoilers in July 2006, because he is a glutton for punishment.
