Sorry true believers, Captain America is still rotting away somewhere (for now), yet for some reason we’ve been seeing him pop up in more Marvel titles lately. Take Avengers Classic #4 for example. Marvel Comics has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of the issue that features a brand new story of Captain America written by Dwayne McDuffie and Michael Avon Oeming as well as a remastered retelling of Avengers #4.

Bizarre? Maybe, but no more strange than say, Wolverine Origins #16.

Love the idea, but got to ask a question.

Why are some of the remastered word ballons different colors?

Man, I really got to make a big old comic order and start catching up soon.

It just makes business sense; Cap is more popular now that he was when he was alive.

You know they’re going to bring him back, but maybe it’d be better not to–to let him remain a dead icon in annual flashback stories.

Personal bet: Tony may not be a Skrull, but I’m betting Cap was; the upcoming Skrull invasion is already here. These Skrulls are specialized “sleeper” Skrulls (created after events in New Avengers: Illuminati v2#1) who have been given memories of their originals to be activated at the right moment. This makes them subject to misfortune, like getting killed, sleeping with Juggernaut, or revealing their secret identity on TV. Expose this and release the imprisoned originals, and you’ve just sorted a lot of big messes in the Marvel U WITHOUT rebooting Stamford, the SHRA, and other major events.)
