Marvel Sneak Peek of the Week: W00t! Edition (part 2)

    Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJuly 15, 2007Updated:July 16, 200710 Comments5 Mins Read

    picon02.jpg

We’ve hit the jackpot with Marvel, finally getting on their advanced previews/review list, which means we have a whole slew of sneak peeks to share of the Marvel titles arriving this week (July 18).

Take the jump for The Order, Super-Villain Team-Up/MODOK’s 11, Thunderbolts: Desperate Measures, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #111, WOLVERINE: ORIGINS ANNUAL #1, WOLVERINE: ORIGINS ANNUAL #1, WORLD WAR HULK: X-MEN #2 , and World War Hulk: Front Line.

UPDATE: Oops – We made a mistake!  We accidentally posted the first couple of pages from World War Hulk #2.  Totally my fault in misunderstanding a communication from Marvel. Those pages have been taken down and are no longer available on this site.  World War Hulk #2 looks spectacular and arrives in stores on July 18. – stephen

    THE Order #1
    Written by MATT FRACTION
Pencils and Cover by BARRY KITSON
    Variant Cover by STEVE MCNIVEN

THE Order introduces the all-new and Los Angeles-based crown jewel in Tony Stark’s FIFTY-STATE INITIATIVE. A team of Stark-branded and created super heroes, these young actors, athletes and models are infused with tremendous powers and even more tremendous fame, reborn as the First Super Hero Team of Tomorrow™ — THE ORDER. Here the same ol’-same ol’ means hooking up at the Standard, drinks at SkyBar and a death-duel on Sunset Blvd. against some villain too stupid to realize that, in Hollywood, the good guys always win. The catch: you can be fired at any point along the way. And every inch of your life will be subjected to intense public scrutiny. And if you survive all that for a whole year, you’ll face mandatory retirement. And there’s no guarantee you’ll live to see that retirement. If you had one year to save the world, what would you do?

    SUPER-VILLAIN TEAM-UP/M.O.D.O.K.’S 11 #1 (OF 5)
    Written by FRED VAN LENTE
    Penciled by FRANCIS PORTELA
    Cover by ERIC POWELL

While the heroes are away fighting World War Hulk, the villains can play…M.O.D.O.K., sick of being hunted and hounded by A.I.M., gathers together an eclectic team of Marvel’s Most Wanted to pull off one last, big score. But news travels fast along the grapevine of villainy — and pretty soon every bad guy in the Marvel Universe is gunning for the Big-Headed One’s unspeakably powerful prize. Executing their heist may be the easy part, because getting away with their loot alive is going to be the real challenge for M.O.D.O.K.’s 11!

It’s Thunderbolt against Thunderbolt in a battle of fists and wills in this special issue by the masterminds behind CIVIL WAR: FRONT LINE.

“To Hell with that!, Avengers…” Ares, five seconds before losing 25 per cent of his teeth.

I’m actually curious how one goes about getting in touch with Marvel (and any other company) to be put on the list for these previews.

I love all of it but the Order. That just looks like a very bad mix of Superheroics and Big Brother. No. Thankyou.

I’m actually willing to give “The Order” the benefit of the doubt, but I really could care less about the Madripoor comic.

Do we really need more Logan stories? I really with some other X-man would take his place.

I don’t think just anyone can do it…

We are very fortunate that Marvel is sharing these peeks with us, so we can share them with you :D

    7. Cory on July 16, 2007 8:24 am

Oh, I realize that you’re fortunate that Marvel shares the previews with you, I actually am curious on how one gets on Marvel’s list to put them up on their site. The group site that I work on would be interested in doing so as well, I just don’t know how to go about doing so. Places like CBR, Newsarama, and ComicsContinuum do so all the time, I just am glad to see how grown sites like yours be able to do so as well, and would like the chance also.

Wasn’t there a WWH #2 preview up there yesterday?

Looking forward to the X-Men tie-in & the Order, Frontline hasn’t been bad either.

    9. Stephen Schleicher on July 16, 2007 11:22 am

There was, but Marvel asked us to take it down due to a breakdown in communication. No problem though, World War Hulk #2 hit stores this week!
