Check out this weird casting news – apparently Terrence Howard has been given the axe for the Iron Man sequel, and is being replaced by Don Cheadle. Marvel had no comment, but sources close to the deal said negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons. Marvel, which had wanted to work with Cheadle, then decided to take the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is shooting Antoine Fuqua‘s “Brooklyn’s Finest” with Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke. I really dig Don Cheadle, and can’t wait to see his Jim Rhodes character get a larger
If you didn’t see the illegal Spirit Trailer that floated around the interwebnets yesterday, you are in luck as you can see the trailer in its official form over at Yahoo!Movies. I’m still not sure the movie is going to be the super hit Sin City and 300 were. It does have some lovely ladies, and I do like the Sand Seref stories that Will Eisner wrote, and Frank Miller has capture the noir look, but I’m not sure I’m digging on the look of the film just yet. What do you think? via Yahoo!Movies
E! Online did an interview with producer Laura Ziskin, who said we’ll have to wait until at least 2011 before Spider-Man 4 hits theaters. Of course the key phrase here is “at least”. Remember, the script is far from being finished, neither Tobey Maguire nor Sam Raimi have signed on, and Marvel has yet to announce the flick in their annual reports. The last Spidey flick came out in 2007, which would mean there is at least a four (more likely six) year gap between the two. Will people still be interested in Spidey that far out? I’m not sure.Â
Here’s another clip from Hancock, showing Will Smith trying to be politically correct in a crisis situation. I still get the feeling this is going to be a great superhero flick, showing what happens when the nut jobs push for a kindler gentler hero that too constrained by rules to be effective. via Yahoo! A slew of Incredible Hulk movie clips hit the Interwebs this past week, some of which are pretty cool. Like this one featuring the Hulk giving the smack down to the Abomination. via Yahoo Movies Or Ed Norton hulking out when Betty gets hurt. via AOL or the Hulk fighting Emil Blonsky via MySpaceTV After seeing the Abomination/Hulk fight, I’m more excited about this movie than I was previously.
Over the next couple of weeks, expect to be inundated with content spilling out of Marvel and the studios as they make sure every single seat in every single theater in every single country is filled with people chanting Iron Man. via Yahoo Movies
I haven’t read the comic series, but after seeing the new trailer for the Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman movie, I really want to see Wanted (and not just because of the implied nude scene pictured above). If you missed the XLII commercial spot, head over to Yahoo! Trailers to check out the TV spot and theatrical trailer. via Yahoo!
