You Make the Card 4 is well under way as names have been tallied and votes are happening. Monday released the first brackets for voting on the eight potential names for our card (I missed that due to local technical difficulties, sorry). Those have been narrowed down to four, which will show off after the jump.
As said last week an sketch has been chosen. Now it’s time to name the card. Not much has changed since last time we looked so we’re just going to link over to the main page that explains the do’s and don’ts of naming the card and has the submission form right there. Submissions do close at 9 PM PST on August 6, so get a name out there and then let us know of others you may like in the comments section below.
The new Core Set for Magic: the Gathering, Magic 2014, came out about a week and a half ago now. Unlike the Expert Expansions, I have yet to be able to find the time and manage to go to a Core Set Prerelease. However, thanks to some nice folks over at Wizards of the Coast, I have had a few chances to go through the set and play with it a bit, so after the jump lies a Major Spoilers review of the Magic 2014 Core Set.
While San Diego Comic Con has been a blast while happening the last few days, it wasn’t the only event of the weekend. PAX Australia also happened this weekend, and Wizards of the Coast had a Magic: the Gathering panel down under. We have a number of spoilers for upcoming releases that weren’t discussed yesterday after the jump.
Some of the earlier news from the Magic: the Gathering panel has made itself available. Not everything is out yet, but there is plenty to share right now. So, take the jump to see some Theros spoilers, another card from From the Vault: 20, and information about the two fall products, Duel Decks and Commander.
It’s time to Ignite Your Spark! The Magic 2014 Core Set releases today, featuring 249 black-bordered cards, including randomly inserted premium versions of all cards in the set. Available in booster packs, intro packs, and fat packs, the Magic 2014 Core Set comes hot on the heels of the release of Magic 2014 – Duels of the Planeswalkers, the latest installment in the hit video game franchise.
The Magic 2014 Core Set features five distinct Intro Packs: Lightforce, Psychic Labyrinth, Death Reaper, Fire Surge, and Bestial Strength. Additionally, there are two Booster Packs included with each Intro Pack.
Over the years SDCC has evolved from a comic focused event to and event for all of nerd and pop culture. For me, one of the more entertaining things to come of this has been the larger and larger presence for Magic: the Gathering, my favorite game. The big Magic panel at SDCC has become the moment where the large Fall set truly begins, and that’s not the only thing happening this year. So take the jump to see what all will be happening in the Magic world for SDCC.
So far during the fourth iteration of You Make the Card we’ve decided on a type, a color, a mechanic, and now an art description. The art description was sent off to Matt Stewart. He’s sent in three sketches and that’s the next vote. We’ve got the full winning description and the trio of sketches to vote on after the jump.
